Overview
Businesses that run periodic (rather than perpetual) inventory accounting need a clean way to recognise Cost of Goods Sold and adjust the inventory asset at period end without depending on real-time stock valuation layers. This module lets you define reusable valuation profiles, preview Beginning, Net Purchases, Ending and COGS figures for any chosen date, and post a single balanced adjusting journal entry that closes the purchases accounts, restates the inventory account to its ending value, and books COGS using the Beginning + Purchases - Ending formula. Each run is snapshotted, attached to a PDF report, and can be scheduled to run automatically or fully reversed when corrections are needed.

Key Features
- Define reusable valuation profiles with inventory, COGS and one-or-many purchases accounts, posting journal, and location/category/product scope.
- Preview Beginning, Net Purchases, Ending and COGS amounts for any valuation date before posting anything.
- Post one consolidated, automatically balanced adjusting journal entry that closes purchases, restates inventory, and recognises COGS.
- Compute Beginning value from the GL inventory balance on the first run or from the previous run's ending value afterwards.
- Detect and list negative-stock products at the valuation date so they can be reviewed before posting.
- Generate a PDF valuation report and attach it to both the run record and its journal entry.
- Schedule unattended monthly, daily or yearly auto-runs per profile with configurable anchor date and run-as user.
- Reverse a posted run through a guarded wizard that books an offsetting entry and flags affected subsequent runs.
- Export run details (account splits, category totals, negative stock) to XLSX or CSV.
- Keep runs isolated per company through record rules and prevent duplicate active runs per profile and date.
